LIVING HISTORY DAY AT NORLANDS
Cabin Fever Reliever! The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center is open on Saturday, February 23rd from 11 am to 4 pm. Stop by for some old-time fun, meet the neighbors and make new friends. Activities are provided by interpreters in period clothing portraying people of the Norlands neighborhood or members of the original Livermore Washburn family. The schoolmarm will be ready to greet you in the schoolhouse for a lesson from the 1800s. You can try using a quill pen or test your skills in mental arithmetic or spelling. In the mansion you can chat with Washburn daughter, “Caroline”, or granddaughters, “Anna Maud” or “Ada”, as they show you through the family home and tell stories about their famous family. The Washburn kitchen and farmer’s cottage will be a busy place with old-fashioned chores and games. Visitors will have a chance to help with washing and ironing and making butter, explore how mystery artifacts were used, and meet other Livermore neighbors. Something delicious will be cooking on the woodstove. Bring snowshoes and explore the beautiful grounds.
FMI: call 897-4366 or visit www.norlands.org. The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center is located at 290 Norlands Road in Livermore, Maine.
