• Mrs. Maine-America Pageant Informational Workshop
  Have you always wanted to compete for the title of Mrs. Maine-America but were hesitant because you didn't know what to expect? Now here's your chance to learn! Saturday, March 13th from 10 - Noon @ The Maine Mall in South Portland (Food Court Area) ~Learn all about this pageant systme from the people who know...Mrs. Maine-America 2009 Meredith Bickford, State Director/Mrs. Maine-America 2005 Debra Pronovost and the rest of the pageant staff! ~Learn Interview Skills and Walking Techniques from Mrs. Maine-America 2000 Randi Preis! The state pageant will take place on May 8 & 9 at The Eastland Park Hotel in Portland. The new Mrs. Maine-America will enjoy a fabulous prize package, a year of appearances throughout the state, and the opportunity to represent Maine at the Mrs. America Pageant in Tucson, Arizona! This is a COMPLIMENTARY workshop...so what have you got to lose?
• Earth Day Community Yard Sale
  The Island Communities in Service (ICIS) group is at it again and sponsoring a special Earth Day Community Yard Sale on Saturday, April 17 at the American Legion Hall (next to the police station) in Southwest Harbor from 8:00AM to 1:00PM. Come join the fun by setting up a table ($10.00 rental fee for each) and bringing in all those wonderful things that you’ve been dying to get rid of! It’s a great way to earn a little cash and help your community at the same time. There will be yummy, home baked goods and free coffee to enjoy throughout the event. There will also be a 50/50 Raffle with $1 tickets. All proceeds from the renting of tables baked goods and fifty percent of raffle sales will be donated to the Town of Southwest Harbor Waste Prevention Committee’s Swap Shop. Checks for table rentals or donations should be made out to the same. First come, first serve so sign up now! (Deadline is April 10.)
