Prohibition was supposed to usher in an era of sobriety and restraint. Instead, America’s Noble Experiment was submerged by the madcap wave of the Roaring 20’s, when inventive recording artists on their way to fame unleashed spirited sounds that set the tone for the country. Check your tommy gun at the door, grab a glass of moonshine and join Music Doing Good Director of Jazz Delfeayo Marsalis and his band of speakeasy all-stars for a night of bawdy musical decadence inspired by The Prohibition Era. All proceeds benefit The Boothbay Opera House. Advance Tickets $20, day of show tickets $25. Call the box office at 633-5159 or order online at boothbayoperahouse.com. Doors for seating open at 7 pm, the music starts at 7:30 pm. The historic upstairs bar opens at 6:30 tonight. (from maineevents.com)
