Peace & Justice Center to Celebrate 20th Anniversary at Harvest Supper

The l9th annual Harvest Supper on Saturday, October 4th from 6 -8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Park Street in Bangor to once again celebrate the fruits of all the labors for peace & justice in the progressive community. This year is a special celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Center’s founding. All those who have helped the Center to survive and thrive are invited to join the supper to reflect on our varied efforts to “sew peace and harvest hope” in our communities. For those new to the progressive community in Eastern Maine, this is a great opportunity to meet many of the people who contribute in so many ways to promoting peaceful and sustainable alternatives in our region.

Each year many look forward to this warm evening of reconnecting and sharing a delicious potluck supper from the bounties of our gardens. During the meal you can enjoy the sounds of beautiful harp music by Daryne Rockett and after the supper Doug Allen, Education Committee Coordinator for the Center since l998 ,will share some brief reflections on the Center’s history. The evening will conclude with a sing-along led by Brian Dyer-Stewart, long time peace activist, folksinger and musician.

Bring a vegetarian dish or dessert to share. The suggested donation is $10 for an adult and $3 for a child or $15 for a family. If you’d like to volunteer to set up or clean up please call 942-9343. If you are unable to attend but would like to honor the Center on its 20th anniversary in our program book, please contact the Center at 942-9343.
