Saturday, October 4, 2008 and every week until November 22nd at 9-10:30 a.m.

96 Harlow Street, Leeds
Maine Lakes & Mountains

Seeking Safety is a model designed to assist individuals with co-occurring trauma/PTSD and substance use challenges.

The goals of this group will be to establish safety and safe coping strategies to deal with trauma and substance use. This is not a group to process traumatic events, rather it is designed to use a here & now focus to manage symptoms that impact daily functioning. The philosophy of Seeking Safety is that with both active trauma and substance use challenges, the first need is to establish safety in order to lay the groundwork for stability and recovery.

Topics of the group will include: use of safe coping skills to manage trauma and substance use, skills to detach from emotional pain, identifying & managing triggers, self-care, setting boundaries in relationships, asking for help, etc.

This group is for adults and will start on Saturday, October 4, 2008. The group will run for 8 weeks on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. The group may resume after the holidays for additional topics if the group chooses to do so.

Prior screening is required. The following insurances are accepted: Maine Care, Anthem, Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim, & Humana. Individuals without insurance can self-pay at $25 per session.

For more information or to set up a screening, please contact Shelley O'Bar, LCSW, at 207-944-1849.
