Canada has taken a leading role in protecting right whales from the threat of ship strikes, which has resulted in a substantial reduction in mortality risk from ship strikes. Brown is the scientific advisor for the Canadian Whale Institute, a senior scientist in the Edgerton Research Lab at the New England Aquarium in Boston, MA and co-chair of the Canadian North Atlantic Right Whale Implementation Team
