100 Mile Wilderness Sled Dog Race

FEB 4th WILDERNESS SLED DOG RACE CANCELLED GREENVILLE, MAINE -- The seventh annual Wilderness Sled Dog Race scheduled for Saturday February 4th has been cancelled. Disappointed race organizers made the decision to cancel after assessing conditions on the lake and woods trails. The Wilderness Race governing board is committed to running a safe event for everyone and the trail inspection found that despite recent snowfall, conditions are still inadequate to safely run dog teams on the 100-mile and 30-mile race courses. The decision to cancel was made with great regret, and the race committee thanks everyone who has worked so hard all year to plan and prepare for the 2012 Wilderness Race. The event is made possible each year by the support of many generous sponsoring businesses and organizations, volunteers in the community, and mushers who travel to Greenville to compete. The race is organized by the Wilderness Sled Dog Racing Association, a Greenville non-profit.
